Graduated in cinema in FAAP, São Paulo, Brazil with extension filmmaking courses in UCLA, L.A and courses in drawing and acting.
Working as a filmmaker, with more than 20 years of experience in the audiovisual industry she started as 1st AD in advertising films and music videos then continued as a director.
Still as 1st AD she worked in feature films such as “Castelo Ratimbum, o filme”, directed by Cao Hamburger, a film based on the award-winning Brazilian TV series and winner of the Chicago International Children's Film Festival 2000.
Lygia directed TV series and documentaries such as:
“20 Poucos Anos” for MTV Brazil, the first reality show of Brazilian TV
“Chasing Che, Motorcycle Journey” for NGCI, inspired in Che Guevara’s book
“Across the Amazon” expedition crossing the extreme east to west of South America
“Secret Brazil” series of 3 episodes for NGCI Wild, shot during one year in Pantanal
“Back to Bikini” 52 documentary shot in Bikini Atoll for FOX/NGCI
“Zapping Zone” for Disney Channel, daily program with live and pre- taped episodes.
Created and directed the animation/live action series “Caco e Dado” TV Cultura and Gloob.
Reformulated and directed the new season of “Globo Ecologia” for Canal Futura.
Executive producer in “Fighting to Win” documentary film for Combat Channel, TV Globo and UFC. Winner at the Annual Copenhagen Film Festival 2017.
Executive producer and director for the first Brazilian documentary for Netflix, “Laerte-se “, launched in 2017, worldwide.
Field producer in Brazil of 10 minutes documentaries for KBS, the World is Now journalistic program, directed by Yun Chea Wan PD, stories about the Venezuelan refugees, a military mission to combat frontier crimes, the social and environmental impacts of the Hydropower plant Belo Monte in Amazonia and the pandemia in Brazil.
Field producer for 50’ documentary Tears of Favela (KBS-2016),
directed by Chea Wan Yun, about a family with a drug dealer son, in
Jardim Gramacho slum during the Olympic Games period in Rio 2016.
Director and producer of the 65’ documentary: Haenyeo Wisdom of the Sea, shot in South Korea, Jeju Island. Broadcast on TV Cultura and National Geographic, sponsored by KOCCA. Launched in March 2018.
