Documentary - 80'

FISHER'S VOICE reveals the essential truth of coastal people, their daily challenges caused by the phenomena of mankind´s predatory actions, and how they are spinning a livelihood from the thread of hope for a better future. A stunning journey across the globe, engaging knowledge and life stories to portray the pressure communities face through their dependence on nature. A captivating film about resistance, but particularly about thriving experiences. This documentary travels from the largest continuous mangroves in Brazil, with men collecting crabs soaked in the mud, to Mozambique, devastated by cyclones that got stronger because of deforestation, and where people struggle to protect their dwindling resources of food, to the incredible lives of Bajau people in Indonesia, with their ancient fishing knowledge and a reality that is rapidly changing. FISHER'S VOICE also brings a powerful message that it is far more effective to inspire behavioral change than to demand it. From the traditional Haenyeo culture in South Korea to the wonders of a recovered spot in Peru, fishermen are reimagining marine preservation. Even though there is still a lot to be done, such as banning the dynamite fishing practice in the Philippines, it is possible to build a sustainable future.
